Differences Between A Male And Female Quartz Banger
The quartz bangers are like the dab rigs that come in different genders. When you are new to using the dab rig and are looking to change the use to a different nail, you need to know the difference between the male quartz banger and a female quartz banger.
The shape of the tip:
Well, one of the first things that you need to look into is the shape of the tip. When it is a male quartz banger, it is going to go inside a female jointed water pipe. As the male goes inside the receiver, it will be narrowed down to an end. This will look like an inverted traffic cone of pylon without the sharp and pointy edge.
Whereas the female quartz banger is going to go on the top and around the male joint of your water pipe. Well, in order to cover the surface of the male joint, female quartz has a flaring bottom that is the same as a lampshade.
Size of the bottom:
Well, the quartz banger come in three measurements that are of 10mm, 14mm, and 18mm. Even they share the same measurements, they do not look like they share the same size.
A 10 mm male quartz banger just looks smaller than the 10 mm female quartz banger. This is all because of the shape of the tip. The male banger is measured according to the outside diameter but the female quartz bangers are measured according to the inner cavity.
The seal around the joint:
There is no issue with the seal do the male and the female quartz banger. As long as you match the joint size of the banger to the joint size of the water pipe and you will get a good seal between the two joints.
You are going to have a hard time getting an airtight seal if you get a nail that is too small or too big for the dab rig.
How will you catch reclaim?
It is very easy to catch the reclaim if you have a male quartz banger instead of the female one. Well, that is because the vapor and the excess concentrate are going inside directly of the dab rig in order to reclaim the catcher. The female bangers tend to leak out depending on how big the dab you are doing with your rig.
You must know that it is a rare occurrence and is not necessarily going to waste your concentrate at all. It is going to make the cleaning a bit messy as the reclaim sticks to the shaft of the male joint
. Should you worry about the expansion?
Well as the heavy dabbers prefer high-temperature dabs and might have faced some issues with the expansion in more ways than the one. This is going to result in joint sticking and your joint might crack if you are not careful. The cracking is mostly observed when you are using low-quality glass.
You must know that the female bangers tend to stick more around the male bangers. When you see that the reclaim is going to stick around the shaft of the male joint, and the heat will cause the expansion, then the result in the two stuck joints are difficult to pry apart.
There are some scenarios where the expansion has caused the female banger to crack or even pop out of the rig. As for the male bangers, the expansion is not much of the issue. It is an issue with the titanium nail because of the heat transfer.
But the quartz banger as you only heat the bucket which is why there is a lesser chance of the banger getting stuck as compared to the female banger. So choosing between the male and the female bangers totally depends on the rig you are having.
